You're right about the countries being a large area, and things can happen in those countries as well.

I don't think any country is 100% safe. I think it's more a matter of safer, and they won't be hit has hard. I also think that one has to use common sense - on a hill, in case of floods, near water in case of drought, far away from forest, in case of fire, near fertile land or food centers in case of food shortage. It's not going to be easy. I also think luck will be involved.
