You need to look at the bigger picture. The only reason children deviate from their parents is if they have other influences. In the Middle East, children have the same beliefs as their parents. In America, most of the population believes in God. This is a hand-me-down as there is no possible reason to believe in gods.

The process is called patterning or socialisation.
