You know what's nice about Substack?

1. One can select the option to disallow other people to mention one. I did. So they can't write about me. I think it's really ugly to do something like that. I would never do something like that.

2. The algorithm is focused on SEO, not on who the most popular writer is, and how much they talk to other writers. Engagement has nothing to do with it. I prefer to be measured by the depth and accuracy of my writing - not by whether I spend my time reading other people's writing.

FYI, I will have been on Medium 2 years exactly when I leave. In that time, my highest income was $4300 for a month, my greatest number of reads (not views) for one article (over 28,000), a story was picked up by the international press, and I wrote something like 900 stories. My total income for last year, either indirectly, or directly through Medium was $65K. So, perhaps, a little respect?
