Well, the bug, or whatever it was, has now self-corrected, so I can comment again. :)

I also battle with getting readers for my fiction. On KDP, I predominantly sell non-fiction. Poetry is a dead end. I'm planning on finding a way to write a series of fiction books in the coming year. Promotion is a really, really big problem. I have no idea how to resolve it.

I think that Medium selects topics that are related to the day's news or to things that are trending. Not sure, but it makes sense, because a lot of other sites do that.
