You are spot on. I left the States in 2014, initially coming back to the EU (Spain), and then going to South Africa (family reasons). I moved to Germany but am now relocating to Portugal, where short of climate change, I hope to live for the rest of my life.

To be honest, I would love to be more north where you are, but I don't qualify and I don't have the income to support myself.
