You are right that hatred breeds hatred. But the British Empire crushed Nazi Germany (Well, mostly Russia did) and America out Germany back together again. Crushing an enemy does not automatically mean the enemy cannot rebuild in peace.

Right now, the narrative on the left is that hatred breeds hatred, and that Hamas started the war in order to turn the world against Israel. I see no evidence of that being his goal.

In fact, Hamas leadership has stated that the attack on Israel was a mistake because they did not expect a war (and a vicious, deadly war at that). Apoarently. Hamas expected Israel to remove the fences and to hand back their prisoners. Consequently, Sinwar expected to become president of Palestine as a result of his forcing Israel to remove the wall and return the prisoners.

Hamas did not expect Gaza to be raized to the ground.

The left, especially the war left, tends to hear one voice, then to endlessly repeat it, until they think it is the truth.
