You are interpreting what I mean by survival as personal survival, not the survival of the human species. Are you American? If so, I can understand your view point

When I immigrated to America, my welcome brochure said that it would take some time to get accustomed to the culture, as it was the only country in the world that put the individual above the community.

I was extremely puzzled how that would work. Turns out it doesn't. I left after 12 years of it. Prefer to live in countries where the community is more important than the individual.
