There’s a lot of fake engagement going on around here, especially since Medium began shelling out bonuses for ringing up claps and comments. Some of it is understandable; the rest is annoying, and in more than a few cases, it is mystifying.

WTF? I've got nearly 2000 comments I've noticed, but that's been because I've always commented since the year dot (about 1962). You just can't shut me up. If I'm commenting, It's because I've got something to say!
