Wow. That was quite a read.

You do realize that the locals earn $600 to $800 per month, and that's what they live in. Also, if you're not coming from the EU, immigration wants proof of $1100 per month and I think it's $1600 a month if it's two of you.

Also health care is about $60 per month, and I'm trying to figure out if one is eating gold-plated prawns at $290 per month to eat out.

At 65, one can travel all over Lisbon and many other areas for 20 euros per month. That's public transport.

I think all these immigration sites cater to Americans and their lifestyles.

My lifestyle pretty much comprises.

Rent (hopefully not more than Euros 500)

Food Euros 150 per month

Internet Euros 30 unlimited

Phone Euros 3

Transport Euros 20

Gym with pool Euros 30

Medical euros 60 (although I might get that free).

Electricity ???

That would take me to just under 800 euros. That's why I would prefer to have rent at less than 500 euros. That is much higher than my income.
