I've gone back to Substack, despite not liking the Subscription model. I've decided to write gratis on X and Substack on something totally different to what I wrote about here. I've changed my name (gone back to a previous pen name), and will just see how it goes.

Apart from the money issues, I don't want to be read other people's stuff here in order to get paid. I'm certainly a reader, but there is far better stuff to read than on this platform, and that is what I do.

I think the fact that Medium is encouraging 'engagements' says it all. They don't have sufficient readers to justify payment, and the reason that payment has dropped is precisely because of that.
