Why Preppers and Loners Won’t Survive the Apocalypse Either

Sadly, it doesn’t matter how many skills you have, and how prepared you are — it’s not enough!

In many of my stories about the times we are living in, I have repeatedly expressed that it was important to be part of a community, and that the community as a whole must be prepared. For this story, I would like to explain why I think it’s more likely that a well-prepared community has a greater chance to survive. I also want to say that the larger the community, the greater the chance of survival.

The reasons for a community having a greater chance of survival than a single individual (or even a family) is the level of threat and disaster that may need to be overcome. A small group does not have the resources and manpower to overcome some of the major ones.

Of course, I also consider the element of luck, and that sometimes, a lone prepper or a family will not encounter some of what will (may) happen.

Here are some of the threats to survival that humanity will face.

  • Increasing shortage of food
  • Increasing civil strife and crime
  • Any number of natural disasters — flooding, fires, tornadoes, etc.
