I think the guy who wrote it was uncomfortable with the idea of some people having greater intelligence than others, so he came up with the idea of reframing what talents, etc, were.
A sports talent is exactly that - a physical talent. It is no way compared to or does the same thing as intelligence does.
There is quite a bit of criticism about Gardner's theory - some of it as basic as ot has no evidence.
I'm amused that you think I have had so little experience as to have not met people who were fantastic artists, musicians, sportsmen, etc.
