Why Critical Thinking Is a Scam

It’s actually not possible to think critically about all the things that need to be ‘critically thought about.’

They tell me there’s a process for critical thinking. It goes like this. You read something, and then you check other sources to see if it is true. Of course, you have to check to see that the other sources are credible, and once you’ve checked that, you have to check each of the facts that are mentioned in that source.

Numerous articles will have stock phrases like ‘scientists say.’ How many people accept that, and how many people ask “which scientsts?’ Imagine if you had to do that for every article that you read that said, ‘which scientists?’

Then when you find which scientists, you have to check the credentials of those scientists.

I remember years ago, there was a story going around about all these scientists who said that climate change was a hoax. I started reading through the list of scientists. Then I started checking the credentials of the scientists. There were food scientists, psychologists, zoologists, palentologists, geologists, and all sorts of ‘ologists.’ In the entire list, I counted three climate scientists.

My point is that it’s impossible for anyone to check all the information out…
