Which is why there is no hope of preventing radical climate change at this point. We have reached the point of no return. There isn't sufficient time to do what needed to be done.

We should have started 50 years ago.

America is the only country I have ever lived in where homes have aircon. In London, I recall, in the 70s, nobody had heard of aircon.

Buildings were designed differently.

A few years ago, I spent 3 months in Andalucia. The temperature was 42 degrees or 43 degrees for days on end. It never went below 35 degrees. There was no such thing as aircon. The homes were, mostly, many centuries old (I lived in a very small, old village).

What we did was put cold, wet sheets at the open front door so that the air cooled as it came into the house. We also did that at the window. Of course, in Spain, Siesta is between about 2 pm and 4.30 pm. Nobody works those hours. It is too hot to do that.

I have lived in very hot areas in Africa, and I suppose Houston and San Diego are also pretty hot. The Med is generally very hot. Cadiz is sweltering. London also gets exceptionally hot these days.

The thing is that all these places (including Mexico) have homes that are built of stone or brick. Wood as used in the USA, is a very bad insulator. Stone and brick keep the inside cool.

My current home (in Ireland) has walls that are 12 inches thick - stone/brick. The same was true of homes in Spain.

This is why I say that the people should have started preparing half a century ago, rebuilding, etc.
