When one grows up in a society where emphasis is on getting what you want because 'in America, everybody can get what they want/work for,' then one is inclined to be self-centered.

I have never met such a level of entitlement in my life until I moved to the States. I think your idea of what and who human beings are are completely coloured by the world you live in.
