When I tried to raise that and to explain that it wasn't fake news, I had my head bitten off. Of course, I don't live in America, and the press elsewhere in the world was reporting it.

That said, when I heard that Elon Musk had bought Twitter, I closed my account. I have been on the web since 1994 when it had 3004 websites. Since that time, the degree of attack and abuse I have had from Libertarians, Republicans, Evangelical Christians, and Hillary supporters is dfficult to detail. Suffice to say, it changed me from a cheerful, positive person to someone who began to know fear.

About five or six years ago, on Google Plus, I had enough. I decided to block anyone who adhered to those belief systems.

The idea that these people debate is simply not true. They attack, regardless of whether it is subtle, passive, etc. it is still an attack.

While Elon Musk might think that sites can be unregulated, I disagree with him. I don't particularly lose anything by being on Twitter. It was never my life. I just checked in to see if anything important had happened in the world.

So I'll stick to my other news sources.

For the record, and you can check this on your constitution, freedom of speech refers to being able to criticize the government without fear of being arrested or executed. It comes from the days of the Englightenment. It never meant that everyone is free to lie, to slander, to destroy through words, etc.
