When I mentioned, during the election process, that the laptop was real, liberals accused me of spreading propaganda. I pointed out that the international press had no stake in the outcome of American elections, and, therefore, if they were saying that there was such a thing, there probably was.
There is a strong herd mentality in the US. I think it's because it's such a tough country to survive in. Competition means that there is only one winner, and people look down on 'losers' in the US. That is a terrible thing to have to live with - to constantly be seen as a loser. So the herd mentality is strong.
It's a compensatory mechanism - if I say nice things to you, will you say nice things to me. I will support you, if you will suport me...
