What's wrong with believing oneself old and ugly? I never understood the inability of so many people to accept negatives about themselves. Nothing to do with low self-esteem. I'm gifted, highly knowledgeable, wise, healthy, etc. So I no longer have the looks I once had. So what? I don't care.
