What I write has very few readers on a site like Medium which has, unfortunately, accrued a lot of success gurus pandering to wannabes.
That said, I wrote an article about 3 werks ago entitled “Why I Muted All Writing Sites.” It must have hit a nerve because it did reasonably well. Since then, a good few people have also started writing about how the ‘how to’articles are destroying medium.
Recently, virtually all my articles have started to be distributed, and a few days ago, I got a $500 bonus from Medium for being one of the top 1000 writers on Medium. There are half a million writers on Medium so that puts me at .2%.
One of my articles a few days ago has nearly 70 comments, and it is still going strong.
In other words, things are changing on Medium. I will wait to see what happens.
On Google Plus, my posts used to have up to 1.5 million reads plus the maximum of 500 comments within 24 hours. A lot of one’s readership depends on the algorithm. If my article isn’t widely distributed, it won’t be read.
Of course, I have to write the kind of thing that people want to read. I don’t. I write for the highly intelligent, the insightful, the educated, the thinkers, and those that simply have enough goodness in them to want to chsnge the system.
My topics are never going to appeal to fans of the Kardashians, etc.
So, why does it worry you?
