What Can Americans Do As Darkness Descends?
Things are far worse than they realize.
When I look at some of the responses to my stories, I am reminded of Russians living behind the Iron Curtain in the days of the USSR. The state told them how badly everybody else lived in the world, and they had no idea how much better off everybody in other countries were. They were, comparatively speaking, living in the dark ages while the rest of the world were living in the 20th century.
Belief has always been a greater driving force than reality. While many people think Trump is stupid, it may also simply be that he has so bought into a particular ideology that his intellect is skewed when it comes to arriving at accurate conclusions. How else does one explain his deep-seated belief that America will win in a trade war against the rest of the world.
The rest of the world has just quietly said, “Nice knowing you,” and found other trade partners. According to various sources on various social media sites (and I have no idea whether this is true or not), China has stopped shipping goods to the States, and if that is true, in a very short while, American shelves will be empty.
