Well you see, Emily, after one has read some 600 psychology books and how the brain and how people work, one pretty much as a clear idea about these things.

I spent my life going to psychologist. A more stupid, ignorant bunch of people I have never met.

It's well known that they get into the field because they have their own issues. In other words, psychologists aren't the most well-adjusted people in the world.

It's also obvious that you missed the entire point of the piece - that empathy is not what you base decisions on and it is not where ethics come from.

All that empathy does is help you to understand another human being, and it's limited. You cannot simultaneously understand what is happening to 25,000 other people, all of whom are experiencing different things at the same time.
