Well, they were quite clear they wanted news writers, i.e. journalists.

All these content sites open with great rewards for writers, and then when they have 2 dozen bucket fulls, they change the pay rate in order to get rid of those that aren’t making them big bucks.

Newsbreak is using thr local news formula because there is very little space for new players in the big news categories.

In my opinion, they will come short. Most people are interested in the big news stories, and it’s unlikely anyone is going to earn much if they only write local unless they live in the big city.

For the record, I made $4200 on Medium last month, and it is probably a once-off.

I don’t think opinion pieces on personal lives do very well, but opinion pieces on international issues do. Of course, I could be wrong.
