Well, now. let’s see. I once did a math class with my daughter at college. It waa the type where we taught ourselves, and then did tests when we had finished studying a chapter. Used to take us about an hour to study the stuff. Then we would do the test. Generally another hour. We’d do it in 30 minutes and get 100%.

The math tutor who had a masters in math said to me. “I have a masters in math and I have never seen anyone do math the way you and your daughter can.”

We both find math very easy, and we most certainly did not grow up in an farming society.

In South Africa, the only mark that counts is the one you obtain at year end in the final exam. So, yes, if you didn’t pass that exam, you repeated the year.
