Well, no. As I am African born and bred, I can assure you that while some people there may well be vegan, the vast majority of people are not.
People have different biological makeups. You may well get away with being vegan. However, a lot of people can't. Your wording is:
"A lot of vegan foods have added B12 nowdays." Precisely. I don't eat proceeded foods. I eat fresh foods.
As for the Omega 3 (like Flax oil), the mechanism in the body, as you get older, doesn't break it down as readily as it does grass fed meat or fish.
I find when conversing with vegans or vegetarians that it's their way or the highway. However, the latest medical science over the past few years negates a lot of earlier beliefs - that it's healthier.
I follow the original Mediteranean diet which is half fruit and veggies, 1/4 grains, and 1/4 proteins. Two or three times a week, I will eat meat or fish, and the rest of time beans, lentils, etc. for protein.
There is no way in hell that I will ever go back to eating a vegan or vegetarian diet. Sorry.
"Vegan or vegetarian diets were related to a higher risk of depression and lower anxiety scores, but no differences for other outcomes were found. Subgroup analyses of anxiety showed a higher risk of anxiety, mainly in participants under 26 years of age and in studies with a higher quality. More studies with better overall quality are needed to make clear positive or negative associations."
