Well, just looking at your lack of comments, your few claps, and your 12 followers, you can't be earning more than $3 or $4 a month on Medium. And if you earned $1000 over three years with Adsense, yes, that is more than Adsense pays.
Not a way to earn a living, though.
I had issues with Adsense about 6 years ago when i switched one too many countries in a year (4, to be precise). So while I didn't close it, I stopped the revenue section for my own sites, youtube, etc. Even then, I only earned about $100 a year. I left it on because I earn through Hubpages with them, and though I haven't written for Hubpages for years, I still get somewhere between $50 to $180 a month from them.
Personally, I've never understood why anyone would pay for a subscription service, but maybe that's because the last thing I want is a subscription service, and I certainly wouldn't pay for it. I would also be hardput to know what to write that would justify people paying me a monthly fee for it.
I like my current models. I am on Patreon, Ko-fi, Medium, Hubpages, Smashwords, KDP, and Amazon (affilate marketing). I'm probably going to join Quora as well.
