I have the benefit of having lived in the UK, South Africa, America, and various countries in the EU. I have interacted with many different Jewish communities. Some are liberal. Some are reform. Some are Orthodox. Some are Hassidic.
If that is all your Rabbi is capable of, I would find another rabbi.. A fact is the truth, and the truth is a fact.
Where the idea comes from that there are different truths is a result of early 20th century discovery that every religion believed that they had the truth. They didn't. However, the dictionary confirms that truth is factual. Otherwise courts of law would hardly demand that one tell the truth...
