Well, here's the thing, Sarah. The publications weren't really drawing the reading public. The good writers were. Did you get the $500 that Ev Williams doled out to those writers last month?

So Ev Williams shut down the publications and now invests in those writers he thought had something to say. And, no, he wasn't talking about the success gurus, and the endless people who write articles about writing. I muted all those. I'm glad I did. It was actually my first article that drew tremendous traffic.

In two weeks, I've gained about 700 followers, and my income has increased by about 6000%. Actually, I don't know, but last time it was 4000%.

So whatever Ev Williams is doing, it’s working for me and many others.

As someone who has worked for two publishing houses in London and has been published on three continents for 60 years, let me tell you that the job of an editor is not to correct your work. The job of an editor is to select which articles will sell the publication. It's more a business position.

In a publishing house, a copy editor corrects the English and in a newspaper, it's the sub-editors that correct. Actually, in a newspaper, it's more about making sure the journalistic style is kept up - normally either CMS or AP.

I wouldn't worry about the publications closing. I am thrilled that Ev Williams has invested in the actual writers. Why don't you give yourself a chance?
