Vincent, I lived in the most violent country in the world outside an active war zone for much of my life. Nobody in my family had guns. Most people I knew didn't carry guns.

We learnt to avoid dangerous situations. I recall one day, in about 1979 walking down a road and someone was following me. Not a good man. The faster I walked. The faster he walked. I ducked into a laundry and asked them if they had a backdoor and took that way home.

Another time, I was hitching, and a guy picked me up. I asked to be dropped up in town. He put on speed and drove hell for leather through town. I asked him to stop. He didn't. He was headed straight for the mountain. Then he came to a red light. I jumped out.

I will never like people with guns. It makes me uneasy. I always notice the hubris. Me Tarzan. You Jane. So, perhaps saying that I find it an abberation is a bit over the top. But I do think question something inside people who need to carry guns.

Sorry.
