Um. No. If there is any character development in a story, I put it down. I have not one bit of interest in seeing characters develop. I like my plot driven stories. And the faster they move, the better.

I have no time for heroes who struggle. I do not like weak people, and I do not like wimps in stories. Funny enough, my daughter and I were talking about that last night - about how off putting it is to see heroes in fiction struggle. One wants heroes.

Basically the books that sell today are commercial fiction, and there is little character development in them. Basically, if it's romantic fiction, the guy must be rich, powerful, and goodlooking, and he gets the girl. His character does not develop. He is already perfect.
