Trump vs Harvard and Antisemitism

To my mind, no education institution should be sitting on billions.

I one went to the Department of Education site to check these statistics (some years ago), and they were right.

I am baffled as to why anyone thinks it is normal or acceptable for an educational organisation to have more than $53 billion in funds. Wouldn’t that capital be better invested in — um — educating the billions of people who desperately require training in skills, reading, writing, surviving, and a multitude of other human necessities?

I’m also curious as to why this money isn’t used to fund its own research, and why government funding is required for that research. It’s not as if any research that comes out of Harvard goes into the public domain, or that it is open for anyone to use in a potential business.

More than $2.2 billion in federal grants and contracts have been frozen and even more could be siphoned away if the other pressures materialize. Harvard Medical School is preparing for possible layoffs and the School of Public Health, which received three stop-work orders on research this week, is winding down two leases in off-campus buildings. It’s also interesting to note just how much money is coming from countries that are antisemitic, and one would be sorely missing in intellect if one did not ask if the ‘donations’ from those countries weren’t instrumental in them being anti-Israel.
