Those are really good points.

Last night I received an email from the owner of the hotel where I am currently staying (and who has tried to sell me one of her apartments, rent me a more expensive room, etc). She wanted to know how she could get more sales for her books because she had written three different books (with three different publishers), and she was disappointed in that they didn’t market her books very well.

I don’t know whether she used a vanity publisher or whether they were just very small publishers with no marketing budget, but she mentioned that one book didn’t appear in bookshops at all, one book only appeared at one chain, and another book only appeared at another chain.

She was now writing a forth book, and wanted to know how she got a better response.

Clearly, she was expecting something that hadn’t happened. I didn’t tell her that, but I did point out that it would have been better if she had stayed with the same publisher for all three books, and that she would have to market the books herself.

So, I wonder if you words would apply to her.
