There was an article today in the Guardian that indicated that going green would bankrupt both the UK and the UK because so much money was invested in oil. You're an economist - not a climate scientist. I can understand why your mind refuses to accept the reality...
When 97% of the worl'd's climate scientists accept that current climate change is manmade, and not a natural cycle of the planet, I would hesitate to make the statements you just have. After all, their experitise in the matter if far greater than yours, as an economist, would be.
The only think you're right about here is electric cars. We have to abandon personal ownership of cars and focus on mass transit.
As for the human race forgetting how to think for themselves, I think the human race has never thought for itself. The human race has always progressed forward on the shoulders of a few giants.
Unfortunately, there is now the illusion that one is capable of 'thinking for onself' when one does not have specialist knowledge int he field.
