There are now close to 8.5 billion people on this planet. The idea that one can get all these people in 195 countries working together to begin to prepare for the damage, plus set in place plans to undo the damage (which will take a 1000 years) is unrealistic.
Whenever I hear people speak about 'hope' and how we can all play together nicely, I am inclined to wonder just how much life experience they have. Have they ever been in a war zone? Do they understand extreme poverty? Have they tried to make their way out of an African jungle with Jihadi all around them? Do they understand the drives of other cultures, other people, etc.?
If people were all selfless beings, we could easily work together to build shelters, find ways of enduring, although there would be a massive loss of population, and much of our civilization will be lost. However, there will always be people who will be out for themselves, and studies have already shown that half the world's population are not prepared to give up anything in order to 'prevent' climate change.
We are past the point of no return. We need to be in a place of climate adaptation. Have you seen anyone move out of Florida yet?
So what does one do to change this? I have several ideas. However, without financial backing, massive financial backing, there is no way of implementing them. As my daughter says, "There is nothing I can do. I'm not in a position of power to do anything. So the best thing I can do is enjoy what life I have."
