The problem was that when i had the crown put on 10 years ago in San Diego, there wasn't much of a tooth left. So they put in a piece of metal (post) and then added the crown to the post.

The dentist yesterday told me that the previous dentist had made space by putting the post next to the nerve or something, and that there was no more space, so the tooth would have to come out, and he couldn't guarantee that the crown would remain in place.

It's not the crown that cost €2800 - it was an implant. The implants cost about €300 in Turkey!!! :)
