The only reason that progressives would have lost is because democrats are idiots as well. The term 'there is no return to the way America is' was used in the context of pre-Trump and post-Trump. It was also used express the way America was in the 40s, 50s and 60s - before neo-liberalism took hold. Sorry, I wasn't clear about that. I wanted to keep it short.
