The fact that you seem to think that love, romance, etc has something to do with marriage. That is a recent construct - about 200 years old. In other parts of the world, people do not get married because they are in love.

Americans have somewhat unrealistic expectations and entitlements compared to people in the rest of the world when it comes to marriage.

American women seem to expect heaven on earth from a man. He must make her happy, be responsible for her emotional health, allow her to be his equal at the same time as being her knight in shining armour.
