The definition of communism are collective societies, when we-the-people own the means of production. So, for instance, co-operative businesses, where the staff get a share of the profits and 'own' the business are an example of communism.
There has never actually been any country that is 'communist.'
There have been a good few countries where there has been extreme socialism and, of course, the USSR had Totalitarianism, but that is gone now. China is an extreme example of socialism, but throughout the 50s and 60s, all developed countries had mixed-economies (combinations of socialism and capitalism).
