Is it not possible simply to be able to earn a living from writing to be called a writer? I have never sought or wanted fame or fortune. In fact, it is only these last few years that I have read that is what some want.

I never worked hard at writing, never thought about developing a voice, never knew that any of this stuff existed until after I had been published for 30 or 40 years.

The only reason i write for a living is because it's easy.
