That is stretching the analogy too fat, don’t you think. The reader is reading for pleasure. The writer is doing the work.

I only wish writers luck, and that is appropriate. They will need it because a certain percentage of success in writing comes from luck.

I am not sure why you get upset when I say people don’t read further because it’s not good enough to catch and hold their interest.

Surely as a reader, you know that you won’t read anything that doesn’t interest you, or is badly written?
