"That is still the case." Um. No. If the climate cycles change and various essentials of the environment change, human life will become unsustainable. We will become extinct.

" Ecological systems will repair themselves quite rapidly in the absence of our destruction of them."

Relative to what? NASA has said that even if we stopped all oil production now, it would take a 1000 years to revert to pre-industrial weather patterns.

"If "enlightenment" means aggressive, greedy, totalitarian empires, concentration of massive global wealth and power over other life in the hands of a small number of adolescent male humans, destruction of local to global ecosystems by human activity, and unquestioned belief that we are separate from and dominant over all other life, then the sooner "enlightenment" is destroyed, the better."

That's primarily America, and, admittedly, that poison has spread far and wide, but most of us aren't like that. The Brits chose to echo America and are now self- destructing.

And that's not what Enlightenment meant. Go back to the 18th century and read the French precepts of it.
