That is bloody obvious. He has no idea what a good writer is. One could see that in the people who won the competition. Not a writer amongst them. Also see it in the stories being selected. The people dong the distribution are using a university template for selecting stories with certain markers.

None of those markers indicate that the story is any good or that it's well-written.
