Tell me, why would someone want to do childish drawings? What's the point? They're ugly. They're definitely not decorative, and if people want the work of children, it's a simple thing to ask their kids to draw them.
I heard another story about Picasso. Apparently, when he became famous, and people started payng big bucks for his work, he found that he didn't have to do the amount of work he did previously, he could just draw a few lines on a piece of paper, and his name would earn him millions.
All talented writers write with ease. My daughter was drawing like a fine art painter when she was 10 or 11 years old. It's a talent. You do it without sweat. It's not difficult.I find it interesting that none of these people will admit how easy it is. They tell their readers it's immensely difficult. Why? Because if they told them it was easy, their work would lose value. I have no doubt that Picasso did the same thing.
There are many artists who never go to art school. So I don't buy that all artists have to 'unlearn' what they learn at art school. I also think that precisely because all the arts are talents, there's little they can be taught - just the technicalities. The ability to draw, write, sing, etc. is innate.
And, no, I'm not going to change my view - for the simple reason that if I find something lacking in any merit. I see no reason to assume that I am at fault because I can't see the merit.
