I recall, at the end of the 90s, when I was living in the UK, a friend who was a mental health professional telling me that homeless people were generally homeless because they were mentally ill.

My late brother was homeless. He became mentally ill at 7 or 8 years old - it had nothing to do with being homeless.

The vets in America who are homeless, are homeless because they have PTSD from war.
