Surely, it's not what you see or think. It's what the facts are. Canada, South America, and America are all part of the 'new world.'
Apart from that, I'm not sure what the context is. I was explaining that privilege resides in every country/nation on earth, with the dominant group having 'privilege.'
Africa did not have the civilizations that Asia and Europe had, and I brought up Africa to demonstrate that there was 'black privilege' in Africa. Also, there are about 3000 languages in Africa - nobody knows for sure, and a lot more tribes. It would be extremely difficult to call it the 'old world' based on an assumption that the stone age people (hunter gatherers) had their own traditions.
The reason that the Americas are called 'the new world' is because Europeans didn't know about it. They had always known about Africa and Asia. So it was called the 'old world.

Why would you want to be promoted? That is what I don't get. What is so important about spending your life working for status? I find that kind of outlook to be the root of the problem in America.
