Stripe is perfectly reliable, and they don't care where you live. When I lived in South Africa (where Stripe doesn't pay either ), Medium knew I lived in South Africa, but were perfectly okay with paying into my British account via Stripe. It's not where you stay that is the problem. It is where your bank account is.

One of the reasons I have retained an international banking account in the UK is precisely because you never know where I am going to land up next.

While I was in South Africa and Germany, and until now, I kept Stripe paying into my British account. Now it's paying into my Portuguese account.

Medium doesn't care where you live. You can put in your American bank details in America. Oh, it doesn't matter about being a German citizen. Or do you mean you're of German extraction. Americans tend to think that being of a certain extraction means the same thing as being a German citizen.

Do you have a German passport? If you don't have a German passport, you're not German.
