Sorry, while there may be some exceptions, every single bit of reseearch (including references in this article) indicates that the most successful people in ALL things are those with high IQ. It is NOT emotional intelligence.

Highly intelligent people have a lot of self-awareness. They have the intelligence to be self-aware. Why do you think they don't?

Freud said a lot of things that turned out be be bs. That said, understanding why we do things certainly frees us if we need to be freed, but the more intelligent one is, the more likely we are able to underestand ourselves. People of average intelligence battle far more than people of high intelligence.

It is intelligence that gives us this self-awareness.

As for critical thinking skills, that is another of those buzz word ideas. The ability to be an independent, analytical thinker is the direct result of IQ. You cannot teach it to people who don't have the innate aiblity.

As for religious fanatics with high IQ, you might want to look at the research. Most people with high IQ are atheist. 97% of scientists (the worlds' most highly intelligent) from the royal scienty are atheists. There is a direct correlation between high IQ and atheism. People with high IQ are NOT religious fanatics. There is also a direct correlation between believing in gods and average IQ and below average IQ.

Please feel free to find the research that stats all this.
