Really interesting essay and it has definitely made me rethink Stoicism. I always liked what Alain de Botton says about it.

To some extent, I have survived because I did (and do) accept my situation. There really was nothing else I could do. I fought where I could, but when I couldn't overcome because the odds were too heavy, well, one has to know when to quit.

Acceptance and gratitude for what I have has got me through.
