Rant: I’ve Lost Respect For Both Left and Right

I see no common sense, no human decency, and it’s not about the lesser of two evils for me.

It doesn’t matter which country it is, whether it’s the US, the UK, the EU, Ireland where I currently live, all arguments and perspectives seem to have been taken to the extreme. I don’t like extremes because they become insane, unworkable, and I’m happy to give you examples of that.

Let’s talk about welfare societies, where there is a safety net for those who fall on hard times. They lost a job because the company went bankrupt or they got ill. I think any civilized society needs to provide for people in those instances. It’s not their fault that something bad happened to them.

However, I draw the line when tens of thousands of economic migrants or refugees come into a country and then draw welfare benefits paid for by the citizens of that country. This is happening across the globe. It is bankrupting countries, upsetting the home culture, and using up all the accommodation.

Let’s talk about immigration itself. I agree that immigration can provide better opportunities for some. However, I also believe that it should be earned. Legal immigration in most countries has depended on a points system to date. You had particular skills, a high…
