No, it’s not poverty that is driving crime and victimhood — it’s mis-education.
The year before I started school (1957), my parents went to Europe for six or seven months. I stayed with my Afrikaans grandparents — boere. They were dirt poor. There was no running water in the house. Rain water was caught in a tank. Food was cooked on a stove which was heated through firewood. There was no toilet or bathroom in the house. We had to go to the outhouse, quite a way from the house. There was no electricity, no street lights, and they had no car and there was no bus service. One either walked to the general dealer store about a mile or two down the road, or we used the pony trap.
I still remember those days in that crooked little house with crooked walls and linoleum placed over a mud floor.
My siblings and I would tease the bull in the paddock that belonged to neighbors down the road. We also picked up old apricot kernals and ate the pit inside.
Now here’s the thing.
