Personally, I cannot think of a worse place to write than Substack. The reasons are as follows.

1. I'm a nobody, and suddenly I've got to find readers out of nowhere. From long experience, if you're a nobody and if you don't particularly brown nose, you don't get anywhere. I don't have it in me to brownnose people simply in order to find readers.

2. One would have to charge money. I have no confidence whatsoever that anyone would pay to read me. I most certainly wouldn't pay anyone else to read them. I don't like subscriptions. In 26 years on the web, I've never had one for more than 2 weeks before it irritated the hell out of me.
